Question & Answer

A bazillion years ago I had planned to include regular Q&A posts but somehow I just never seem to find the time.  (by a bazillion years I mean a few months…haha).  I always think I won’t have something to write about so can use a reader question to fill in the gap, but wouldn’t you know I’m really never lacking for things to blather on about

Now, I admit that I forgot to note who asked this particular question so if it was you give us a holla and take the credit.  :)  Going forward I was smart enough to save emails so I know who left the comments!

Question:

“You are so healthy!  Does everything you eat make it to the blog?”

Answer:

Honestly, HELLS NO!  :)  You all know my motto is “keep it real” and this Q&A seems like a good time to come clean.

  • it’s not always possible to include every single thing I eat.  Bites of ‘this-n-that’ are not always photo worthy, are often forgotten, or I sometimes don’t feel like sharing.  Sometimes I’m pressed for time or a post is already too long.
  • sometimes a girl doesn’t want to share her dirty little (*cough* evening snack binges) secrets with the world.  sometimes I eat a lot of chips that you all don’t see…which is why once in a while I get hard on myself about not working out.
  • if I’ve already finished blogging for the day, i’m done. so if I feel like having a snack, I’m not going to edit or throw up another blog post just to document a bowl of cereal or extra cookies with my tea.

Now, this is not to say that this happens all the time or that I’m hiding anything.  It’s just a little insight behind the life of this food bloggerYou are all aware I’m human, correct?  :)

And since no post is complete without food porn and/or a recipe here’s the little drinky-poo that snuck into my belly after last night’s post…

Light Egg Nog with Diet Ginger Ale

050

This is a family thing…I think my Grandma may have started it.  She was diabetic so obviously wasn’t supposed to have egg nog but would have a bit mixed with Diet Sprite as her Christmas treat.  My Mom and I started doing it too, and now I can’t go back.  I like it with Ginger Ale as opposed to Sprite, but to each their own.  Yes, it sounds weird…but try it!  It makes your egg nog frothy and fun…and cuts that thick, sickly sweetness that a lot of folks don’t like about egg nog.  Deeeeeelish!

(and FYI: this particular glass is only about 50 calories.  Light Egg Nog is 80 calories per cup…I used just over 1/2 cup.  And Diet GA is zero cals…so there you have it.  I don’t do diet pop too often, but this is one time that it’s a “must have”!)

hehe I'm with Amy - but I can't handle Egg Nog period so the Gingerale may help the egg noggy taste for me

I'm so not an egg nog person either. I think that the gingerale would only cause me further grief because I associate that with having an upset tummy...my Nana would flatten it and give it to me when I was sick *S*

Yeah I don't think I could go for this one either! But way to keep it real! Hope you enjoyed it!

Wow, I 've never heard of this particular combination. I do like egg-nog, with or without rum :), but the most I've ever done with it is dilute it with skim milk. I think my brother used to put it on his cereal on Christmas morning.

A strange side-note: when I was a little kid, my mother used to make us homemade egg-nog when we were sick. It tasted more like a milkshake than actual egg-nog, but I'm not so sure she didn't put rum in it (maybe to knock us out for a while?).

There. There's my weird egg-nog contribution.

Hope you continue to enjoy your unique (!) family tradition.
